No backing in Britain for war on Syria
THOUGH David Cameron has lost the right to supply troops to join a proposed military intervention into the civil war in Syria, I am frightened by the way he proposed to “lead the world in providing aid” to that stricken country.
How can we, a country that has to provide food banks for our own impoverished countrymen, provide food?

I am of a charitable persuasion, but I honestly feel that any charity from this country should come from individuals and not the Government on our behalf. Let the oil-rich Middle Eastern countries lead the way.

WE need to keep out of Syria at all costs. Targeting the government does not work. Surely there are enough innocents suffering without us adding to it?

Hide AdWe should put our own house in order and hope that some good will come out of this conflict very soon.
After all, do we really know who are the “goodies” and who are the “baddies” in all of this?
This is a conflict that needs to be settled as soon as possible, for the sake of humanity, and both sides need to be made aware of this by leaders of all nations.
Why should the innocent suffer because of the actions of their leaders?

GOOD news for the 272 warmongers who want to dislodge Syria’s Assad! You can pick up your uniforms and weapons from your avid commanders Boris Johnson and Paddy Ashdown.
Among your NCOs will be several newspaper editors and columnists. These will be joined by British-based Syrians who are outraged that our Government did not send British fighters to die in their stead.
Details of the planes leaving for Syria are to be published later – what are the odds of anyone but the crew being on board at take-off time?

AMERICA is determined to hit Syria militarily. Chemical weapons kill people indiscriminately, and so does raining missiles on a country.
There is no definite evidence that this attack was carried out by Assad’s regime and not the opposition.

Hide AdOne has to remember that the original conflict has now been hijacked by Islamist groups of very dubious agendas, affiliated to al-Qaida, yet America is still bent on attacking Syria.
I am getting a bit confused here.
Iran is backing Assad. Assad is against al-Qaida and its Muslim Brotherhood.
The Muslim Brotherhood and America are against General Sisi of Egypt, yet President Obama is backing the Muslim Brotherhood against Syria.
Al-Qaida should thank Obama, David Cameron and Francois Hollande for services rendered.

MANY forget that in 1991 John Major fed us false information in the first Gulf War when Iraqi forces invaded Kuwait. This was when Major was under George Bush Senior’s thumb.
Stories of Iraqi soldiers throwing babies out of incubators, other patients off kidney machines, women being raped – all lies.

Hide AdSO the Prime Minister, justifiably in my opinion, decided to consult Parliament before embarking on a ludicrously expensive operation, doubtful both in its justification and results which the public did not want.
I suggest he now repeats the consultation with another plan which meets all the same criteria, namely HS2.
All the Labour MPs will throw it out as none of their voters will travel on it. The “true blue” Tory MPs will do likewise as they don’t want their property values and environment ruined as well as good agricultural land.
If this comes about, the PM could give his popularity a boost by getting rid of the whole fiasco – I have not met a single person who wants it.

I THINK the idea from Russia that Syria allows her stock of chemical weapons to be put under international control is a very good suggestion.
I hope the Americans can accept this proposal.
It would ensure President Barack Obama does not lose face, but it also allows him not to get involved in the Syrian civil war which has always been his intention.
This Russian idea is so much more sensible than any military assault or attack by cruise missiles.
Many senior Americans appear sceptical, fear tricks and double dealing, do not trust the Russians or the Syrian regime, but they do not have a better alternative. It must surely be worth a try?
