Labour began NHS betrayal

From: Brian Hardy, All Hallowes Drive, Tickhill, Doncaster.

I AGREE with everything the Shadow Health Secretary John Healey writes about the Tory-led fovernment’s disastrous plans for the NHS (Yorkshire Post, February 3).

However it is a sad fact that the previous New Labour Government quietly outsourced more and more of our medical services to inefficient profit-grabbing private firms. A truly shameful betrayal, which no real Labour Government would have allowed. Now the nasty party, the Tories, are back along with their Lib Dem stooges, with all the terrifying consequences for our beloved National Health Service that entails.

Shameful sale of our heritage

IN 1921, the then Liberal-Conservative Coalition sought to sell off Runnymede (the Thames-side meadow where the Magna Carta was signed). Budget cuts then as now, so time to sell the “family silver”. There was high-profile opposition. It, thank goodness, did not happen.

Now we have the threat of large tracts of our forests being sold off to private ownership, by the Conservative and Lib Dem coalition. What is the use of the Woodland Trust and the Forestry Commission in trying to increase our public forests and access?

Shame on you Cameron and Clegg!

Power couple

THINK of the real power Ed Balls and Yvette Cooper would have if ever we were to have another Labour government. It is quite frightening.
