Fighting hi-tech fraudsters

From: H. Marjorie Gill, Clarence Drive, Menston.

AS a methoid of combatting fraud and making people aware of the risk they are taking, wouldn’t it be a good idea to put a notice on all laptop and computer screens with the following wording: “If it looks too good to be true then it most likely is! Don’t be fooled by ‘just send details of your bank account and you will be eligible for several million pounds’.

“Before making any moves in this direction, check with you bank or financial adviser to make sure the offer is genuine.”

Better to lose out than lose all.

In praise of hospital food

IN response to the recent negative coverage on the standard of hospital food, I’d like to praise Bradford Royal Infirmary on its meals.

There is a choice of hot and cold food options for lunch and dinner, the meals are substantial and include plenty of fresh vegetables. There was also a choice of puddings and plenty of choice at breakfast too.

In addition, the staff serving the food were efficient and polite. What more do people want?

A question
of royal duty

From: Ron Farley, Croftway, Camblesforth, Selby.

CHRISTINE McDade’s letter (Yorkshire Post, October 9) prompts me to say Prince William should have spent more time on duty during whatever “engagement” he signed on for!

They used to be called short service commissions. Do they now call them short intermittent service commissions?

I actually admire the lad and do understand he’s a special case given his position.
