YP Letters: You can't blame the tourists for this dog dirt

I HAVE just returned from one of my many visits to Whitby during each year and I was horrified to see the amount of dog dirt which was lying around everywhere.

The weather was awful – there were no tourists around – but yet again the dog dirt was still there. Now I, myself, have three very big dogs and it is my biggest annoyance when people do not pick up after their dogs.

My grievance about Whitby is that many locals seem to blame tourists for all this mess, but it can’t be the tourists when they are not there.

Come on people of Whitby, you have a beautiful town. Pick up after your pets. It was absolutely disgusting last week. Think of the children and think about how you would feel if someone trod this into your house!

Also to the “local” lady who had the nerve to ask me if I was going to pick my dirt up next to me – don’t be so quick to judge.
