When does Spring start and what does it mean? – The Yorkshire Post says
Many point to today – March 1 – which heralds the dawning of the meteorological spring as the green shoots of recovery become self-evident in gardens, parks and landscapes looking more vibrant by the day with their splashes of colour.
Others venture March 20 – the advent of the astronomical spring – while some say the key moment is at 1am on March 28 when the clocks ‘spring forward’ by an hour to mark the start of British Summer Time.

Hide AdFor racing aficionados, the first of the Flat turf season at Doncaster on the preceding day will be their moment in the sun. Meanwhile the weather is a barometer for farmers and gardeners.
Either way, everyone wants this March, more than ever, to be a turning point both in terms of the weather, after such a harsh winter, and the country’s psyche as Britain emerges from lockdown hibernation.
As such, let’s hope Yorkshire can march forward with a renewed spring in its step...
