Success of All Creatures Great and Small shows why David Jason is right about swearing on TV: The Yorkshire Post says

Sir David Jason has starred in many of the nation’s most popular television programmes down the decades - from light-hearted comedies to dark detective dramas.

As such, the much-loved star’s opinion that today’s shows are in a downward spiral of unnecessary bad language, anger and misery is well worth heeding.

Sir David points out that shows like his A Touch of Frost could regularly deal with tough subject matter without the need for any swearing and viewers never complained about any lack of realism.

While it is natural new shows want to push the boundaries and stand out in an ever-more crowded marketplace thanks to multiplying numbers of channels and streaming services, equally the success of programmes like the remake of All Creatures Great and Small this year shows there is a big audience out there for something gentler.
