Response to war hero Len Parry, 100, after theft restores faith in humanity – The Yorkshire Post says

OUR collective faith in human kindness has been restored by all those readers of The Yorkshire Post who have donated money to 100-year-old war veteran Len Parry after callous thieves stole nearly £4,000 of hard-earned savings from the RAF pilot’s Skipton home while he was being treated in hospital.

From the generosity of GMB presenter Piers Morgan to those who spared a few pounds because it was all that they could afford, such gestures of goodwill all demonstrate the public’s abhorrence over the theft and a desire to make amends for Mr Parry, a modest man whose wartime service was the personification of heroism.

And while this is not the first time that the response to such appeals has exceeded all expectations, we, like Mr Parry and his family, continue to be overwhelmed by the generosity of people, and the kindness of strangers, in these extraordinarily difficult times. They represent the very best of Yorkshire.
