Move secures Oxfam jobs

THE jobs of 70 West Yorkshire-based Oxfam workers have been saved following a successful search for new premises for a textile recycling business.

The charity is setting up its Wastesaver recycling business in Grange Road at Soothill, Batley, which used to be the Rest Assured bed factory and is set to move in the new year. Its previous site
in Beck Road, Huddersfield
was destroyed in a fire in April 2011.

Matt George, head of logistics for Oxfam’s trading division, said: “After a difficult and extensive search, and with the help of Kirklees Council, we have been able to secure a site that will protect the employment of our 70 existing employees in West Yorkshire, without the need to relocate elsewhere.
