The man, 36, from Raskelf, near Easingwold, was arrested after a former racehorse called Kit was found dead in the garden of Beckie Warner, who had leased the animal from its owner.

It is believed the horse was driven to Ms Warner’s house in Raskelf in the hopper of a JCB following a reported dispute over a £30 livery fees debt.

A 53-year-old man who was also arrested has been released without charge,

Ms Warner had leased Kit from its owner and kept it in DIY livery in a field owned by the GG Centre in Raskelf.

The GG centre said they had tried several times to contact Ms Warner and had been forced to put down the horse after failed attempts to get it into a horse box.
