Incinerator opponents raise concerns

OPPONENTS of plans to build a waste incinerator on the northern boundary of Chesterfield are set to raise concerns about the project with the Environment Agency this week.

Chesterfield Against Incineration (CAI) group will be raising its concerns at a public drop-in session the Agency is holding on Friday, July 16, from 10am to 7pm at Dunston Innovation Centre. The centre is close to the site being proposed by Cyclamax for the incinerator.

CAI official Karon Glynn says the group has a range of concerns and fears harmful emissions from the plant will be a health hazard to people living nearby, in both Chesterfield itself and other areas of North East Derbyshire such as Dronfield.

Derbyshire County Council's planning committee member will make a decision on the planning application from Cyclamax in September.
