Hunt for Huddersfield knifeman

POLICE are hunting a man who threatened a taxi driver with a kitchen knife yesterday.

The man had been collected in Huddersfield town centre at around 1am on Friday morning and taken to Hopkinson Road, Bracknhall, where he produced a knife.

He threatened the 57-year-old taxi driver and took cash and a mobile phone before escaping through gardens.

The robber was described as white, aged 24 or 25 and of skinny build with black hair. He was clean shaven and spoke with an English accent. He was wearing a black jacket and bottoms.

Det Con Oliver Coates, of Kirklees CID, said: “I would appeal to anyone who may have been in the area around Brackenhall in the early hours of Friday morning and may have seen someone matching the suspect description, or who may have any information about the incident to come forward.”
