Historic site’s future in the spotlight
Groups of people are being asked as part of Urban Design Week, created by Sheffield City Council, to look to the future of the area after the Castle Markets are moved to their new site on The Moor.
Under the current buildings are the remains of the gateway and the bastion towers of Sheffield Castle.

Councillor Leigh Bramall said: “Sheffield’s historical links and its former castle are legendary and we are incredibly excited to find out more about how much of the original foundations are still intact once the markets have relocated.”
The week will finish with a an intensive planning session in which designers, developers and the public can come together at North Bank on Friday, October 25, between 1pm and 5pm.
