Four hurt as police van on 999 call hits car in Leeds

FOUR people have been taken to hospital after a police van answering an emergency call was in collision with a car in Leeds.

West Yorkshire Police said none of the three police officers and one civilian driver who were hurt in the incident in Leeds are thought to have life threatening injuries.

A spokeswoman said the collision happened at 11am on Sunday at the junction of the A61 Regent Street and Skinner Lane, just to the north-east of the city centre.

She said: "A police van responding to reports of an emergency was involved in a collision with a Volkswagen Golf.

"The incident happened at 11am as the van was travelling along Regent Street at its junction with Skinner Lane, in Leeds. It is believed the police van had its blue lights and sirens on.

"The van collided with the dark blue Golf at the traffic lights.

"As a result of the incident three male officers in the police van were left with what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries.

"The male occupant of the Golf was also left with non-life threatening injuries.

"All of them have been taken to hospital."

The force has appealed for witnesses to come forward.
