Firefighters tackle blaze at Ryedale landfill site

Firefighters are at the scene of a fire involving a large area of rubbish at a landfill site in a Ryedale village.

Firefighters were called to the landfill site just after 5am.

Four fire crews were sent to tackle the fire at the site off Village Street in East Knapton just after 5am today.

An update from North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service says: “Crews from Sherburn, Malton and Pickering are in attendance at a fire involving a large amount of landfill. Incident is currently ongoing.”
