car collision

FIREFIGHTERS freed a child trapped underneath a car following an collision in West Yorkshire.

The incident happened shortly before 6.30pm yesterday in Church Bank, Sowerby Bridge, near Halifax.

Crews from Halifax Fire Station lifted the vehicle off the child, thought to be an eight-year-old girl.

A spokesman for West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said the youngster was taken to hospital by ambulance following the rescue operation. One report last night said the child had suffered “cuts and bruises” when the vehicle rolled over her.
