Ex-head of CBI on vision-sharing visit

EX-HEAD of the Confederation of British Industry and former Government Minister Lord Digby Jones is visiting Hull next week to share his vision of encouraging the entrepreneurs of the future.

Lord Jones, who is touring the UK to promote his new book, Fixing Britain: The Business of Reshaping Our Nation, will be visiting the World Trade Centre Hull & Humber next Wednesday.

Organised by Newland School for Girls in partnership with the centre and translation and interpreting company Language is Everything Lord Jones will meet head teachers, business champions and local authority education partners.

They will discuss the importance of fostering closer links between education and business to create entrepreneurial spirit and commercial aspirations in young people.

Lord Jones was invited to Hull by Angela Martinson, head of Newland School for Girls. She said: “Traditional routes into the workplace have fragmented and evolved, and the competition for jobs is extremely tough. Therefore, I believe it is crucial that we expose our students to the huge range of possibilities in the world of work. In addition, it is only through collaboration that education leaders can really tune into the qualities and skills that are required by businesses.”
