Tourism chiefs have guide off to tea

IT is as English as fish and chips or cricket and now another of our quintessential pastimes – afternoon tea – is getting its very own Yorkshire guide.

Peter Dodd, sales and marketing director for tourism organisation Welcome to Yorkshire, launched a new Tea Trial with Heather Tetley and Rachael Fawcett at the Great Yorkshire Show yesterday.

The trail, which is supported by one of the nation’s most famous tea rooms, Harrogate-based Bettys, highlights some of the best places in the county to enjoy a cup of tea and a slice of cake, including historic halls, hotels and heritage railways.

The guide, complete with a map, includes the county’s famed tea companies and producers. It is available from tourist information centres.
