Ennis urges people to get running

OLYMPIC gold medallist Jessica Ennis yesterday urging people to resolve to “get running” in 2013, in support of The Children’s Hospital Charity, of which she is a patron.

The charity’s latest Make it Better appeal aims to raise £20m towards a £40m development at The Children’s Hospital, and will pay for items that cannot be funded by the NHS.

Ennis, who backed the charity in 2012, said: “I’m delighted to be backing the charity’s running campaign for a second year and to be raising awareness of such a fantastic cause.

“The Children’s Hospital in Sheffield is one of only four dedicated children’s hospitals in
the country and we are extremely lucky to have it here in the
city.

“The staff are incredibly dedicated.

“Every time I meet patients and their families at the hospital they are so thankful for the excellent care they have received.

“There are lots of different runs you can sign up to, from fun runs to marathons and whether you run, jog or walk you will make a real difference to the lives or the young patients and families at The Children’s Hospital.”
