Doncaster Airport shut down by problem with executive jet

A YORKSHIRE airport has been closed after an executive jet suffered an undercarriage problem and ended up next to the runway.

Robin Hood Airport, near Doncaster in South Yorkshire, said the incident happened at 10.20am today and involved a Citation 10 jet.

Two crew members were on board but they were not hurt.

In a statement, the airport said the plane made a normal landing after arriving from London Luton Airport and appeared to have suffered a problem with its starboard main undercarriage as it was taxiing on the runway.

It said: "The airport's Rescue and Fire Fighting Service immediately attended the scene as a precaution; however, the incident was stood down shortly after.

"There were two crew on board, both of whom are uninjured; however, the aircraft remains adjacent to the runway and as a consequence the airport currently remains closed.

"Work is expected to be under way shortly to move the aircraft from its present location prior to the airport re-opening, possibly later this afternoon.

"Passengers due to travel from the airport should contact their airline for the latest information regarding their flight."
