West Yorkshire Police sergeant Ben Lister pleads not guilty to rape and sexual assault

A West Yorkshire Police sergeant has pleaded not guilty to the rape and sexual assault of a woman.

Sergeant Ben Lister, who works for West Yorkshire Police, appeared at Bradford Crown Court on Wednesday afternoon.

He is charged with one count of rape and one count of sexual assault alleged to have taken place on August 29, 2016.

Lister, 35, pleaded not guilty to both offences.

A section 11 contempt of court order was imposed, preventing the publication of Lister's address.

He will appear at Bradford Crown Court for trial on January 24, 2022.

Lister was granted unconditional bail.

He is currently suspended from the force.
