Pair jailed over club shooting of rival

Raheim Jackson and Jagger Thompson plotted the attack on Dominic Hendrikson outside Sheepscar Working Men’s Club on the evening of June 2 last year, a court heard. Jackson, 23, used a handgun to fire the shot at Mr Hendrikson’s lower leg shortly after he left the club.

A jury was shown footage of the moment before the attack as Thompson watched the shooting from the club’s doorway. The two men briefly entered the club’s toilets together and were carrying gloves prior to the attack.

Jackson, of Naseby Grange, Lincoln Green, pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm with intent, possession of a firearm, and eight firearms charges. He was jailed for 12 years and eight months. Thompson, 23, of Scott Hall Road, was found guilty after a trial of causing grievous bodily harm with intent, possession of a firearm and six other firearms charges, He was given a 16-year-sentence.

After the shooting police managed to locate the handgun, which was hidden in a wheelie bin in Bradford. Leeds Crown Court heard it had been a ‘weapon for hire’ that had been used in a number of shootings. Officers also found part of a sawn-off shotgun hidden in an underwear drawer at Jackson’s home.

Judge Neil Clark praised the officers involved in the investigation.

Det Chief Insp Jon Morgan, of West Yorkshire Police, said: “As part of this investigation, a number of weapons and ammunition were seized and taken off the streets, including a sawn-off shotgun.”
