Man injured in attack after smoking e-cigarette at Meat Loaf tribute act gig in Holmfirth

A MAN was assaulted at a Meat Loaf tribute act gig in Holmfirth after another concertgoer '˜took exception' to him smoking an e-cigarette.

Police are appealing for witnesses after the 24-year-old victim suffered a broken bone in his hand during the incident at The Picturedrome in Victoria Street.

The attack happened just before 11pm on Friday February 12, but police only released details today.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “The 24-year-old victim was smoking an e-cigarette prior to the assault which another man has apparently taken exception to.”

The suspect is described as a 5ft 11in tall white man aged in his 40s, He is described as having a medium to muscly build with brown curly hair and a gap in his teeth. He was wearing a yellow and blue polo shirt and blue jeans.

Detective Constable Oliver Coates, of Kirklees District CID, said: “We are appealing for anyone who has been in the venue or in the vicinity following the concert who has seen a man matching the suspect’s description or an altercation involving two men. There was a Meat Loaf tribute act playing that night, which might help jog people’s memory.

“Anyone with information is asked to please call Kirklees District CID via 101.”
