Man held over Garforth, Leeds, double stabbing

DETECTIVES investigating a double stabbing in Garforth, Leeds, just over two weeks ago have arrested a man on suspicion of attempted murder.

The 40-year-old man attended a Leeds police station this morning where he was arrested on two counts of attempted murder in connection with the stabbing of Angela Gardener, 55, and her daughter Stephanie, 25, at a house in Bar Lane on Tuesday 2 August.

He is currently in police custody being interviewed by detectives.

Officers investigating the incident, who earlier named 40-year-old Leslie Cunningham as the man they wanted to trace in connection with the attack, today said they were no longer looking for him.

Angela Gardner remains in a stable condition in hospital.
