Simon Buckden, who was arrested at his home in Landseer Way, Bramley, last August, is due in court next month to face seven charges.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said he is charged with fraud by false representation relating to alleged claims around post-traumatic stress disorder, cancer and military service.

It is thought part of the charges relate to claims he lied about having served in the SAS.

The 42-year-old former Royal Signalman, who served in Bosnia, was medically discharged from the army after nearly 12 years service in 2001.

He has since gone on to raise money for charity by running marathons and set up a website called Positive Action PTSD.

The charges relate to the period between October 14, 2009, and December 31, 2013.

Buckden is due to appear at Leeds Magistrates Court on Wednesday, March 18.
