Investigations are continuing into what is believed to have been a plan to steal or rob from members of the horse racing community in North Yorkshire, police said last night.

Three men, who were arrested in connection with the inquiry, have been released on bail while inquiries continue.

Officers are investigating what is believed to be a co-ordinated campaign to prey on the racing world in the county.

Police repeated their warnings for members of the horse racing community to be vigilant and for racehorse trainers and other workers to review the security arrangements at both their homes and businesses.

A spokesman for North Yorkshire Police said: “Officers are continuing to carry out patrols in the areas used by members of the racing industry.

“We are also asking people to remain vigilant and to contact the police straight away if they see any suspicious behaviour.”
