Caught on CCTV: Leeds moped teen on A63, standing up with arms outstretched
The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was seen on the A63 near Selby last July 2012, standing up with his arms outstretched to the side. Footage of the incident was captured by North Yorkshire Police’s mobile safety camera.
Today he appeared at York Magistrates’ Court to plead guilty to dangerous driving. He was banned for 15 months, given a six-month referral order and ordered to pay costs of £200 and a £15 victim surcharge.

Hide AdDave Brown of the Mobile Safety Camera Unit, said: “This young man has lost his licence before he has even begun to drive. I hope both he and other young people learn from this experience. He is very lucky he was not facing more serious, life-changing consequences.
“The case also sends a clear message that the safety camera is not just capable of capturing speeders, but can record indisputable evidence of a variety of offences. Motorists should take note and drive responsibly as well as within the speed limit.”
