Captured on CCTV: The moment gunman opens fire outside Leeds pub

POLICE have released CCTV photos of the moments leading to the shooting of a 31-year-old man outside a Leeds pub.

The victim, who has not been named, was found a short distance from the Kiln pub in Brignall Garth, Burmantofts, with a single gunshot wound to his back. He was taken to hospital where he remains in a stable condition.

The photos show the suspect, wearing a dark coloured hooded top, grey bottoms and carrying a green bag, shoot and initially miss the suspect and a number of other people outside the pub.

As the victim, who is wearing a red t-shirt, runs out of shot he is chased by the suspect who then shoots a second time, hitting the victim in the back.

Police are appealing for information from anyone who saw the incident at around 11pm last Thursday.

Det Supt Paul Taylor of West Yorkshire Police said: “As you can see from the footage there were a lot of people stood in the grounds of the Kiln when the initial shot was discharged.

“As I understand it many of those had been to earlier boxing contest at the nearby Irish Centre and I would ask those people to get in touch with us and tell us what happened.

“We have received an anonymous call from someone suggesting the reasons behind this incident and I would urge that person to ring back. They should be reassured that all information is treated in the strictest confidence.”

“It is only by sheer chance that further people were not injured or killed given the indiscriminate way in which the firearm was discharged in the middle of a crowd of people who were enjoying a night out.”

Anyone with information is asked to call 0845 6060606 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
