She still suffers from severe migraines and tinnitus as a resulted of the assault.

Despite detailed and thorough enquiries by the police, her attacker has not been brought to justice and detectives investigating the incident, as well as her family, hope that a fresh appeal will lead to new information.

The woman’s daughter, said: “My mother was an independent woman who would regularly walk for miles or catch a bus to go somewhere.

“She went outside for the first time since the attack two days ago and she was very frightened. She won’t answer the door to anyone who calls at her house any more.

“She still suffers from severe migraines and tinnitus and is constantly on medication. She will never recover from this.

“My father suffers from Parkinson’s and had gone into a home eight months before. We didn’t tell him about the attack straight away and it was just horrible to watch them both crying when we took him to see her in hospital. He was so sad that he wasn’t able to protect her.

“It was a horrific and cowardly attack. My poor mother was left for dead. She tried to tell him: ‘just take what you want’, but he kept on hitting her.

“There are people in Bradford who know who the attacker is. How would he or they feel if that sort of thing happened to their mother?

Temporary Detective Chief Inspector Tony Nicholson, of Bradford CID, said: “This was a particularly nasty attack in which the victim suffered extensive injuries. The effects of which, she is still suffering from today.

“I am appealing to anyone who knows anything about this attack to come forward with information.
