A19 left covered in slurry after serious crash between car and tractor near York
A black VW Beetle and a JCB tractor towing a slurry tanker collided at Escrick at around 9.15pm.
The Beetle ended up crushed beneath the tractor and police officers spoke of the passengers' miracle escape.

Hide AdOne passenger was trapped inside the car and had to be extracted by firefighters having suffered injuries that were not life threatening. The Beetle driver was taken to hospital with minor injuries, and the JCB driver was not hurt.
The slurry tanker was damaged and spilled its contents onto the road.
The police investigation and recovery of the vehicles was completed by 2am, but the A19 remained closed for several more hours while the carriageway was cleared of contaminated substances.
