Council to extendcommunity justice

Council leaders in Sheffield have approved a plan to extend an innovative "community justice" scheme across the city.

Community Justice Panels, trialled in Broomhill and Ecclesfield, have been hailed as a success. Those put through the scheme – the first in any UK city – have committed a “low-level” crime such as criminal damage. The offender and victim meet with a trained volunteer and agree reparations.
