Conservation proposals published

Plans to make parts of Horsforth in Leeds a conservation area have moved a step closer.

Leeds City Council has published revised proposals following a public consultation earlier this year.

The new proposals take account of residents' views and offer a further opportunity for local people to comment.

The plans will, for the first time, help to protect Horsforth's unique architecture and historical attractions from inappropriate demolition and development in the future.

Coun Richard Lewis, who is the council's executive board member with responsibility for city development, said: "We had a very positive response to the public consultation on the Horsforth conservation area and we have listened carefully to residents' views."

The proposals now include Outwood Lane and historic areas around Cragg Hill and Woodside, both of which are located at either end of Outwood Lane.

The consultation runs from Monday, November 8 until Monday, November 29, and details can be found on the council's website using the link: www.leeds.gov.uk/conservation
