Concert organisers hope for full house

ORGANISERS of a popular open- air concert are hoping for a full house this year to raise yet more money for charity.

The 13th annual Classics in the Park, which is held at Brantingham Park, Elloughton, returns to a classical format this year.

Compered by BBC presenter Blair Jacobs, the concert starts at 7pm on Saturday, July 9.

Divided into three parts, Part One features musically talented children from local primary schools. The Classics Orchestra, conducted by Richard Davis, with soloists baritone Michael Dewis and soprano Charlotte Ellett, will follow before the traditional rousing flag-waving end to the concert and a firework extravaganza.

Proceeds will be split between the Daisy Appeal, the Dove House Hospice “Love you 2 Appeal” and local primary schools.

The concert was the brainchild of Debbie Page who in 1997 became involved in raising funds for an astroturf pitch at South Hunsley School. It has gathered momentum since with a committed fan base returning each year.

Tickets cost £25 but until May 31 they can be bought for £22.50.

They are available from the Hull City Hall Box Office by calling 01482 226655 or online at www.classicsinthepark.co.uk
