Chris Waddle's daughter fails to win judges' approval on The Voice

Brooke Waddle, the daughter of former Sheffield Wednesday and England footballer Chris Waddle, failed to impress on The Voice.

The 27-year-old from Sheffield performed I’ve Got The Music In Me by The Kiki Dee Band for the all-star judging panel of will.i.am, Boy George, Paloma Faith and Ricky Wilson. However, none of the coaches on the BBC One talent series turned their chairs.

Sportsman Waddle, who played for clubs including Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur and France’s Marseille, was among the supporters willing on his daughter.

“You couldn’t really fault the performance, maybe I was looking for a hook or a quirk,” Wilson said.

“Nothing made me go ‘oh, that’s a bit unusual’ but there’s loads of power in your voice and I definitely think you should keep doing it,” Faith said.

When asked for his thoughts by presenter Marvin Humes, Waddle replied, “She went for it, gave it everything she had and that’s all we said to her, ‘go and enjoy it’ and she did.” However, other pop star wannabes fared better in the third week of the blind auditions. Wilson spun his chair for Waterloo Road actor Tom Milner. The 24-year-old, who played Paul Langley on the BBC One programme, sang a lively rendition of Wait On Me by Rixton.

The Kaiser Chiefs frontman also turned around for Efe Udugba, who auditioned to Jealous by Nick Jonas.
