Choir drums up funds for orphans
Destiny Africa Children's Choir, from the Kampala Children's Centre in Uganda's capital city, is made up of orphans between the ages of eight and 16 who have been rescued from abuse, neglect, starvation and sexual abuse.
The choir, who sang for then-Prime Minister Gordon Brown in Downing Street in 2008, performed a lively mix of contemporary and traditional African songs, drumming and dances at an afternoon concert on Briggate and an evening event at St Chad's Parish Hall, Headingley.
In addition to raising the public profile of the charity, all the money raised will fund the orphanage's work.
