Charity appeals for flood aid

A Bradford-based charity has launched an urgent appeal for victims of the torrential floods in the North West Frontier Province in Pakistan.

Human Relief Foundation (HRF) is spearheading the appeal.

Its director, Dr Nabeel Al-Ramadhani, said: "It is crucial that HRF along with the local and national community help the people of Pakistan just like they did after the October 2005 earthquake.

"Our emergency team has carried out the relevant needs assessment with the major requirements identified as being food, shelter, medicine and hygiene kits."

He said the death toll from the flooding had reached more than 1,000 and more than a million people had been displaced.
