Chance to get into gear ahead of Tour

AN INSIGHT into the world’s greatest cycle race and the opportunities the showpiece sporting event will bring will be given to residents of Bedale this month.

Yorkshire will play host to the Grand Départ of The Tour de France next summer and the road race is the main theme of the Bedale and Villages Community Forum’s annual meeting on Thursday next week.

It will include a presentation by David Shields, the area director for Welcome to Yorkshire, on the potential community benefits of next year’s visit of the race.

It will give residents and businesses the opportunity to find out how they can get involved in the Grand Départ, which will pass through West Tanfield on July 5 next year, and also to hear how the Tour will help put Bedale and the surrounding villages on the international stage.
