Call to relatives of blaze victims

The Lord Mayor of Bradford is appealing for the immediate relatives of those who died in the Bradford City Football Club fire to get in touch.

A special remembrance service will take place in Bradford on Tuesday, May 11, to mark the 25th anniversary of the disaster which claimed the lives of more than 50 people.

After the memorial service the Lord Mayor of Bradford, Coun John Godward, has invited the immediate relatives of the 56 people who died when Bradford City played Lincoln City at Valley Parade to join him in Bradford City Hall.

The Lord Mayor is keen to hear from the immediate relatives of all those who perished in the blaze.

Coun Godward said: "We only have the contact details for a few of the relatives who were so tragically affected by this disaster and we want to invite as many of the relatives as we can to remember their loved ones.

"The Bradford City fire disaster touched the lives of so many in the city and district and it is fitting that we reflect at this time."

Archbishop of York Dr John Sentamu will take part in the service.
