Bikers’ Ride of Honour boosts service charities

About 700 riders, some flying Union Flags, set off in convoy from Squires Bikers’ Cafe in Sherburn-in-Elmet, Leeds, on Saturday for the run up to Marne Barracks near Catterick, North Yorkshire.

They raised more than £7,000 for military charities Help for Heroes, Afghan Heroes and the Black Rat Fund, which provides welfare support to the 4th Mechanized Brigade, The Black Rats.

Event co-organiser Chris Eden said: “There was one mission where 14 were killed and 100 were injured and 25 of them were multiple amputees. When you see young lads with bits and pieces missing you realise you are doing some good.” picture: Jonathan Gawthorpe
