All roads lead to village as signleaves motorists cross-eyed
The two confusing markers by Ringwood Hall junction in Chesterfield, Derbyshire - directing motorists to the village of Hollingwood a quarter of a mile away – were flagged up by a motorist.
Simon Parker, secretary of Hollingwood Residents’ Association, said: “We were putting up the signs for our fun day last Saturday when the chairman noticed these signs, which tickled us somewhat because they were completely nonsensical.

Derbyshire County Council, which is responsible for road signs in the area, said the signs were originally installed pointing at right angles and had been turned in.
A spokesman said: “It seems that someone has come along and bent one of the signs back round so they are facing each other. We went out and fixed it the day we were told about it.
“We are sorry for any confusion. We will tighten up the signs so they cannot be moved again.”
