Huddersfield Grammar School not only encourages traditional academic excellence, pupils also enjoy creative arts and a wide range of co-curricular activities to become well-rounded individuals.

All of this will be showcased at the Whole School Open Day on March 9 and you can book a place now by clicking here.

The school, set in beautiful grounds for pupils aged 3 to 16, has been transformed in recent years with more than £5 million of investment to create, among many things, a new art studio and gallery, the latest food tech equipment and kitchens, and a debating room.

It fits in with the school’s ethos of being about more than just academic success, as important as that is.

Headteacher Stuart Rees said: “Everything we do works towards the belief that ‘the whole child is the whole point’.

“This means we focus on academic achievement, and have excellent results to show for it with our forward-facing curriculum. We also create well-rounded individuals, ready for the wider world, by having a healthy number of creative subjects on offer, as well as a huge range of co-curricular activities.

“We are really looking forward to our Open Day when we welcome parents and prospective pupils to come and see just how vibrant our school is and what it can offer to help pupils thrive.”

Pupils from Years 5 and 6, and Year 11 will be on hand at the Open Day to give tours of the school and its grounds. There will be classroom activities for every subject, from making volcanoes in the Geography department to listening to choir performances. The Debating Club will be showcasing their talents and the first round of the school’s annual “Bake Off” competition will also be taking place.

As well as having the chance to talk to staff, Mr Rees will also be giving talks about the school.

The Headteacher added: “Open days are the best way to experience life within Huddersfield Grammar. You can meet the teachers, watch the students in action and ask the questions that will help you feel confident that your child will fulfil their potential with us.”
