Make lips bold, bright and sexy

THE focus will be on lips this coming spring and summer. Stephanie Smith checks out what’s new on the counter.

FOR the fullest, shiniest, poutiest lips in town, Bourjois Effet 3D Max Lipgloss brings dazzling shine and a glistening healthy look to lips, thanks to a smoothing formula with shine micro-activators that form a flexible and comfortable film to look radiant with softly shimmering colour. Plus there’s the added bonus of a clever applicator that, thanks to its reservoir areas, generously coats lips for a volumised pout. Lips are left beautifully defined and full. It comes in six radiant colours with varied effects (check out Rose Eclat). Each shade contains a touch of dewy pink for a fresh look and a touch of shimmer for glamour. Each £8.49 costs £8.49 at Superdrug stores.

RED is big for lips this spring, seen on the international catwalks set against a natural-looking face for a raunchy boudoir Regency look.

There is a red that will suit everyone, but do try blue-red shades if you want your teeth to look whiter, as orange-red can make them look yellow.

This shade from New CID Cosmetics is called Scarlet and it’s full-on sexy and the applicator has built-in lights and mirror. It costs £15 at House of Fraser and Debenhams.

OUT on counter this month, new Lip Junkie Lip Gloss from Urban Decay gives long-lasting colour and ultra-shine without that sticky, hair-trapping, glutinous quality that can make a lip gloss so hard to wear, especially on windy days.

It comes in eight shades, ranging from pretty neutrals to high-voltage brights in sheer to medium coverage.

The Lip Junkie Lip Gloss also has a mint-flavoured formula laced with a collagen-boosting ingredient that moisturises and boosts lips by an average of 40 per cent when used daily for a month.

It costs £13, from Debenhams and House of Fraser stores.

INSPIRED by the beautiful blush colour of rhubarb, Lanolips Lip Ointment with Colour SPF 15 in Rhubarb is made with pure medical grade lanolin, vitamin E, pure pigment and natural oils plus a touch of gold sparkle, to give a luxurious, hydrating finish. Creator Kirsten Carriol says the shade is a tribute to the rhubarb and banana puddings her grandmother used to make.

It costs £8.16 at Boots and Boots.com and at www.victoriahealth.com.
