Villa Maria Reserve Wairau Valley Sauvignon Blanc 2009, Halifax Wine Co, down from £13 to £9.95 until April 30. This is a significant notch up from the regular Villa Maria Sauvignon and it has a lot more complexity, with passionfruit, citrus and gooseberry flavours.

Misterio Malbec 2008, Argentina, Morrisons, down from 5.69 to 4.49 until May 9. Big, deep mulberry fruit with a dusting of sage and balanced tannins make this a great value wine. Pour a glass to sip while you scrape the winter grime off the barbecue...

Ravenswood Lodi Zinfandel 2008, California, Sainsbury, down from 8.99 to 6.99 until May 4. Old vines give this muscular wine deep blackberry and raspberry fruit, backed by warm cinnamon and soft vanilla oak on the finish. Soft enough to drink on its own, but much better with a steak.

Chapel Down Brut, English Sparkling Wine, Morrisons, down from 17.49 to 15.49 to May 9. There was great confusion at Morrison when I asked them to confirm this wine was actually stocked and on offer, but apparently it is, so plan ahead for St George's Day next Friday.
