But just how many people have actually died from Covid-19 in these areas?

The government's Office for National Statistics has released the number of deaths per postcode area for every local authority in the country between March 1 and June 30. The data for July isn't available yet, so it won't take into account the recent spike in cases which led to restrictions being re-imposed.

Despite residents of Ilkley complaining on social media that the town should be exempt from regulations because of its distance from Bradford city centre (it falls within the Bradford Council area), it's actually had the most coronavirus deaths in any of the three local authority areas in West Yorkshire to have been put back into lockdown. There were 28 fatalities from Covid-19 between March and June, with a further seven in neighbouring Addingham and Ilkley Moor. Ilkley has a large elderly population.

Bingley Town had the next highest total, with 26, followed by Great Horton and Brackenhill with 21 and Saltaire and Baildon West with 20.

Despite being locked down again due to a recent increase in cases, Calderdale's death rates before July were not high. The area with the highest number is Central Halifax and Boothtown, with 12, and three areas have had zero fatalities.

In Kirklees, the worst-affected postcode between March and June was Scholes and Hunsworth, with 17 deaths.
