Scarborough currently has the highest infection rate in the region, 249.2 new cases per 100,000 people, while Harrogate in North Yorkshire has the lowest rate at 83.9. These are the 13 local authority areas where the infection rate is currently rising, listed from highest to lowest rates. The latest figures, which are for the seven days to December 16, are based on tests carried out in laboratories (pillar one of the Government’s testing programme) and in the wider community (pillar two). The rate is expressed as the new number of new cases per 100,000 population. Pictures are for illustrative purposes only.
