Working together to deliver city vision

A PLANNING and design expert will this week urge private and public sector leaders to work together to help shape and improve the city's public realm.

Sue Ansbro, director of planning and design at WYG, will highlight the key to delivering a quality public realm in a time of economic downturn at the City Centre Vision Conference in Leeds tomorrow.

Mrs Ansbro, who is chairman of Quality Places and Spaces, a sub-group of the Leeds Chamber Property Forum, said: "If we are to create a safe and sustainable future for the city centre, then it is imperative that we as business and civic leaders and experts find new ways of collaborative working to create a shared vision and deliver upon our aspirations.

"Through the work Quality Places and Spaces has undertaken, we have learnt that a well-connected city is a fundamental requirement to our goals, that a shared vision is critical and that we must engender a sense of ownership, pride and responsibility for our spaces. Neither must we be afraid of learning from other cities."

The conference, at Saviles Hall, Clarence Dock, will address the vision for the city centre while reviewing the priorities set out at 2008's conference.
