Student launches Land Rover hire service

Dan Petch founded Yorkshire Land Rover Hire while studying at Sixth Form, drawing on his own fondness for exploring the countryside in his Land Rover Defender.

The Start Up Loan received from Business Enterprise Fund enabled Mr Petch to build a website, create promotional materials and obtain specialist vehicle insurance.

As a vehicle, the Land Rover is almost a part of the Yorkshire landscape, Mr Petch said.

“We want our customers to have that authentic experience; it’s much more than a hire car.

“We’re about showing off Yorkshire from a different perspective,” he said.

As a member of Welcome to Yorkshire , much of the firm’s custom comes from tourists. Customers can rent add-ons like bike racks and on board cameras also available.

The young entrepreneur is working with local businesses additional services such as bicycle hire, on-board hampers and camping equipment.

Mr Petch is also planning to expand the current two-vehicle fleet.
