Silverdell in £18.6m deal to acquire demolition specialist

Originally called Euro Dismantling Services, the Sheffield-based company was founded by Andrew McGee when he was just 31.

In 2000 it had revenues of £3.5m. By 2004 revenues were up to £26m and by £2007 they has grown to £39m.

In 2011 it earned revenues of about £46m, including underlying earnings of £2.8m.

EDS was awarded the Queen’s Award for International Trade in 2011 in recognition of sustained and continued international growth. EDS has previously won contracts in Argentina, the Philippines, Turkey, Portugal, Italy and Finland.
