Read all about it on the iPad as latest app will raise the stakes

A TRIUMPH of style over substance it may be, but few gadgets have become quite so big, quite so fast as the Apple iPad.

The drift towards accessing data on the move has prompted us here at the Yorkshire Post to re-evaluate the way we deliver information, and to make sure we get it to you no matter which platform you choose to use.

That’s why, in the coming weeks, we will start to make the paper available on the iPad in a new and interactive, tablet-friendly format.

Of course, you can already access our website on the iPad (although it won’t yet play our video content) but the forthcoming app will raise the stakes. As well as the main paper, you will be able to view our Saturday magazine and all our supplements just as you would in print. You can flick between the print version and a ‘live’ edition that updates the news in real time. And you can enjoy multimedia content exclusive to the tablet edition. We will announce more details, and how you can subscribe, in the next few weeks.

At the same time, we will release an app for your Apple or Android smartphone that will deliver complete results, commentary and analysis of all Yorkshire’s football matches, in real time. You will be able to choose which team or teams to follow and then log in automatically to see match-time information and background reports from our team of correspondents. Best of all, it will be free.

We are also improving the way we deliver the news to your internet-enabled phone. Soon, instead of seeing our regular website when you connect, you’ll get a mobile-friendly edition that gives you the top stories in a format that fits your screen.
