N Brown's biggest brand, JD Williams, performed well, as the clothing retailer saw a good performance over the Christmas period, the company said.

The retailer, whose brands include Simply Be and Jacamo, cut its full-year product gross margin outlook to negative 75 basis points to flat from its earlier estimate of negative 25 basis points to 50 basis points.

The company said online sales rose 13 per​ ​cent during the quarter, with 75 per​ ​cent of new customer demand generated online.

Online sales now represent about 66 per​ ​cent of N Brown's sales compared with 58 per​ ​cent last year.

The company said like-for-like revenue rose 4.1 per​ ​cent in the 18 weeks ended Jan​uary​ 2. N Brown had warned on full-year profit in March after a challenging autumn season.
