Network group is launched

A MAJOR networking group, which aims to improve Yorkshire's links with the global business leaders of the future, was launched last night.

Leeds Business School has established the Leeds International Student and Business Network (LISAB).

LISAB has been set up to bring together international students with the region's business leaders to share knowledge and build contacts.

The network is supported by Leeds City Council, Leeds Metropolitan University and Welcome to Yorkshire.

Councillor Jim McKenna, the Lord Mayor of Leeds, said: "This event will provide both the students and businesses of Leeds with the opportunity to learn about business in various countries, and also build key contacts."

Barbara Colledge, the Dean of the Faculty of Business & Law at Leeds Metropolitan University, said she wanted students to have the opportunity to learn more about Leeds and its business community.

Leeds Business School welcomes students from more than 40 countries, including India, China, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Malaysia.

Leeds Metropolitan University has 30,000 students and more than 300,000 associate students through its partnerships with 24 colleges.

Leeds Business School delivers courses across the world through partnerships with organisations including the Academy of Finance in Vietnam, the Vocational Training Council of Hong Kong and the Polytechnic of Namibia.
